Does anyone know how to program a DVD remote so that it works for both the TV and DVD player? - polaroid tv dvd very poor digital reception

I broke the TV remote control, and in fact my roommate left high and broke lol. But at least I have a DVD player and remote control to work for what I am wondering if anyone knew how I could program my TV better. It is a Polaroid DVD player, if that helps anyone! Thanks for the help!
